Upgrading Your 883 Sportster

One of the easiest and best performance mods that you can do to your 883 is to upgrade it to a 1200. This is actually suprisingly easy and the bottom ends are the same and the cylinder heads just need to be bored and honed and new pistons fitted. The power increase is about 20 horsepower and you’ll get an estimated  additional 20 lbs of torque. are readily available and are an excellent option

If you get your cyclinders bored and have new pistons fitted this modification can cost as little as $500 dollars. If you want to buy new cycliders and pistons and keep your originals intact then you can purchase new cycliders and pistons for around $700-$800.

Obviously you’ll need to have a proper engineering workshop do the boring for you but with just a few specialist tools you can remove the cycliders and pistons yourself. Harleys are incedibly easy to work on so this is a great place to start.
